Friday’s Favs – Halloween

October 26th, 2012

First, I’d like to apologize for not writing a friday’s favs post in sooooooo long!!!  I’ve been super busy during this wedding season and a few changes took place in my life but I promise to be a little better about this part of my blog.  For some reason, you guys like these! Second, I’d [...]

First, I’d like to apologize for not writing a friday’s favs post in sooooooo long!!!  I’ve been super busy during this wedding season and a few changes took place in my life but I promise to be a little better about this part of my blog.  For some reason, you guys like these!

Second, I’d like to officially introduce the second love of my life, Marlin.  He is a Chocolate Lab and he is STUNNING!  He came into my life at 8 months old, potty trained with huge paws, awesome caramel colored eyes, great personality and super chill. If we are friends on facebook you might actually disagree with the “super chill” part because of the photos I’ve been posting.  Poor guy loves me so much that when I’m not around he can’t deal with it and tears s*** up!  But when I am home he is the perfect angel boy, and with a face like that he can basically get away with anything (ie. eating the toilet brush and receptacle cover yesterday and all my remotes last week)! He sleeps under my desk, when I work, and sometimes even licks my toes!!! What more can a girl ask for, he is the perfect boyfriend!!!

Third, Halloween is by far my favorite holiday!  I didn’t learn about it till I came to this country at 12 and really was kinda too old for trick or treat!  So as an adult I’ve been trying to make up for lost time.  Not only do I like to dress up but I’m obsessed with dressing my dogs.  It might have something to do with being 38 and not having children but please don’t judge.  It simply is what it is!  So this being Marlin’s first Halloween with me, I decided to keep it simple and since he’s such a monkey (getting into stuff and all) and because he loves his fur brother Coopie (for those that don’t know, I also have a 15 year old kitty cat), we went for a monkey and banana theme.  Marlin being the monkey and Coopie the banana of course.  Again, please don’t judge, this is the most fun I can have for $20, trust me!

Happy Halloween Weekend Peeps!!!

I’d like to start this post off by saying, I ADORE THIS SESSION!!! About a month ago I was contacted by my friend Devona about doing a family session! As soon as the email came through I had an idea.  Knowing this family, I was confident that they would go for it.  I suggested a not so typical session, I suggested a “styled tea party”.  After a consultation we decided that it would be a pinwheel theme, totally Devona’s idea.  We then started a pinterest board for inspiration.  And the rest is history, sort of.  We each had a list of things we were responsible for.  Devona had the biggest task, of making the girl’s dresses and pinwheels.  My tasks included finding the right plates, figuring how to make/set up the table, and how to fit everything in my poor Jetta, etc.  I also contacted my uber talented friend, Amanda (with baci – designer stationary & events) for some custom stationary/styling needed for the session.  All three of us were pretty busy in order to make this shoot happen.

On the big day, I picked some of the things that Devona had made, filled my car with all the other items that I was responsible for and met Amanda at Indigo Lake.  We then set it all up, or shall I say Amanda did most of the work while clumsy me stepped on one of sticks the pinwheels were on and was bleeding profusely.  I carry band aids in my camera bag, for just these instances.  Anywho, by the time the family arrived for their tea/cupcake party everything was set and ready to go.

I could not be happier with this outcome, they are the cutest family I have ever met.  Totally ADORBS and the dog “Sherman” definitely takes this shoot to the next level.  In case you might be wondering he’s the largest yellow lab ever, weighing in at 95 lbs.  He was a bit upset with us since we brought him to a lake and wouldn’t let him get in it.  It was a bit cruel, I must admit, but he did do great!

This was so much fun, hope to be doing many more of these soon.  If  you have an idea or would like to take part in a similar session, lets discuss and make it happen.  Possibilities really are endless!

If you like what you see please make sure to “like” the facebook pages of the people that made this shoot possible:

Pile of Puppies | Akron Pet Photographer

I miss my dog . . . I miss him tons, it’s no secret.  But it does make me happy to get to hang out with his family.  You might remember seeing photos of lab puppies on the blog last year, a couple times.  Luckily I’m friends with the owner of Stimson Inn Kennel, and [...]

I miss my dog . . . I miss him tons, it’s no secret.  But it does make me happy to get to hang out with his family.  You might remember seeing photos of lab puppies on the blog last year, a couple times.  Luckily I’m friends with the owner of Stimson Inn Kennel, and get texts when lab puppies are born.  They are all in some way related to my Baci.  There is absolutely nothing sweeter than a little tiny puppy, especially a lab.  They smell like heaven, and when I look at these pictures I want to eat them.  Ok, that was weird . . . they are just too SWEET, I have a sweet tooth, haha.  These guys were just 4 weeks old when I got to smell and hold and take a few images of them last week.  While sitting on the ground holding the little black one, they all started to come up to me and all ended up in my lap.  Pretty stinkin’ cute!!! For a minute I was the “puppy whisperer” and eventually managed to lay them on top of each other and get them all zonked out for a photo opp.  They were in a pile, a pile of puppies.  Which is the greatest pile to be in.

The first image is the proud mama, Miss Pearl.  She is such a good mom but since the puppies got teeth, she’s a bit over it.  Those little teeth are sharp.

The black puppy, of course, reminds me of my sweet boy Baci.  He’s smiling at me in that third image . . . I can’t even take it, melts my heart.  They are ALL ADORBS.  Pet photography (dog photography) will always be my favorite hands down.  There is nothing better than a fur face looking at me behind my lens and then later all zoomed in on my monitor to edit, puts a smile on my face every time and takes all the stress of life away.  I know, I know, I need one but all in due time! xoxo

Where should I begin this post? well . . . I met Kristi in 2006 when we were both training for our first marathon.  After that first race we were hooked and continued our running adventures as we traveled to quite a few places around the US for marathons or half marathons.  Really miss those days, even if they required a 26.2 mile run. When I started my business 3 years ago, Kristi just had her first baby, Grace.  She was only about 6 months old when I started “practicing” on her.  She was my first human test subject, for which I will always be grateful.  Anywho, lots of time and lots of sessions later, Grace is 3 years old now and about to have a baby sister, Gabrielle, next month.  Before Gabbie makes an appearance a maternity session was definitely in order.  I had a specific look in mind for Kristi and to ensure I was going to get what I wanted, I headed out to the thrift store in search of the perfect outfit for her.  What I found was this amazing dress and hat for $6 and $.50 respectively.  But it wasn’t until Kristi put the dress on and we headed out to the field that I realized that I got what I was after.  My friend turned into a glowing gorgeous Hawaiian goddess and I was lucky enough to have her in front of my lens.

We even got some shots with Gracie as well as Barney.  You might not recognize Barney without his bunny ears and Easter basket but I assure you it is the same dog.  ENJOY!

Last weekend I got to spend with my all time favorite family . . . The Cavenders!!!!  I’ve known and loved Nong for a very long time, since we were a couple 16 year olds back in Florida.  She has been an integral part of me starting my photography business as well.  She was my wedding photographer and ever since we have been keeping in touch and seeing lots more of each other.  And since they recently moved to the Chicago area, we are now only a short 6 hour drive apart.  Vance and the boys really are the sweetest and together they make an amazing family.  Side note, Vance makes the BEST pancakes in the world.  More about the little guys . . .  I have never met children like them before, they are perfect.  Ethan the older one is such a big brother always reminding Owen to share and helping him put LEGOS together.  And Owen is a little love bug, he wanted to hold my hand the entire time.  They are so loving with each other and it is such a pleasure to watch them interact.  During the morning Easter Egg hunt, Ethan found the two eggs that had $1 bills in them and instead of keeping them both he just handed Owen one of the dollars without thinking twice, I was blown away.  I truly believe that they are this way because of the absolutely loving and amazing parents they have.  I adore them ALL and am so excited to get to see them quite a few more times this year.

We have been meaning to do a family shoot for quite a while but the timing never worked out and this time it almost didn’t either as the clouds were rolling in and it was quite cold and windy.  Vance said he was good for 7 frames and we did it.  Actually a few more frames than 7 :O) and yes they are JCrew adorbs . . . don’t you think?

LOVE and ADORE you Cavenders!!!! xoxoxoxo

this one is my favorite, the look on Owen’s face is priceless!

And this is their fur neighbor “Buddy”, isn’t he gorgeous? I couldn’t help myself, if there is a dog around I will pull out my camera. The morning light was so pretty on him as he was watching the Easter Egg hunt and was being a really good boy!
