Friday’s Favs – Halloween

October 26th, 2012

First, I’d like to apologize for not writing a friday’s favs post in sooooooo long!!!  I’ve been super busy during this wedding season and a few changes took place in my life but I promise to be a little better about this part of my blog.  For some reason, you guys like these! Second, I’d [...]

First, I’d like to apologize for not writing a friday’s favs post in sooooooo long!!!  I’ve been super busy during this wedding season and a few changes took place in my life but I promise to be a little better about this part of my blog.  For some reason, you guys like these!

Second, I’d like to officially introduce the second love of my life, Marlin.  He is a Chocolate Lab and he is STUNNING!  He came into my life at 8 months old, potty trained with huge paws, awesome caramel colored eyes, great personality and super chill. If we are friends on facebook you might actually disagree with the “super chill” part because of the photos I’ve been posting.  Poor guy loves me so much that when I’m not around he can’t deal with it and tears s*** up!  But when I am home he is the perfect angel boy, and with a face like that he can basically get away with anything (ie. eating the toilet brush and receptacle cover yesterday and all my remotes last week)! He sleeps under my desk, when I work, and sometimes even licks my toes!!! What more can a girl ask for, he is the perfect boyfriend!!!

Third, Halloween is by far my favorite holiday!  I didn’t learn about it till I came to this country at 12 and really was kinda too old for trick or treat!  So as an adult I’ve been trying to make up for lost time.  Not only do I like to dress up but I’m obsessed with dressing my dogs.  It might have something to do with being 38 and not having children but please don’t judge.  It simply is what it is!  So this being Marlin’s first Halloween with me, I decided to keep it simple and since he’s such a monkey (getting into stuff and all) and because he loves his fur brother Coopie (for those that don’t know, I also have a 15 year old kitty cat), we went for a monkey and banana theme.  Marlin being the monkey and Coopie the banana of course.  Again, please don’t judge, this is the most fun I can have for $20, trust me!

Happy Halloween Weekend Peeps!!!

Friday’s Favs – Great Danes

If you are a friend of mine on the FB or have “liked” the FB business page,  you might have noticed I’ve been posting a bunch of photos of two very handsome Great Danes lately.  Well, I was lucky enough to get to spend an entire week with them (while their folks went to get hitched in St. Lucia), and although they are a lot of work, I had the best time.   You might also remember the last time I dog sat.  YES, YES, YES, you leave me home alone with your dogs I will dress them up, or at least try to.  So when my client asked me if I would dog sit for her, I automatically started thinking of “outfits”.  I wanted Neko, the big boy, to wear glasses and a tie and Naya, the “little” princess, hat and scarf.  Of course a trip to the local thrift store was in order.  Well . . . what I wanted and what I got was a bit different but you get the idea.  Something might not be all the way right with me, but I just love to dress dogs.

This next sequence cracks me up!  He didn’t care for my glasses idea :O)goofy great dane photos

10 Things I have learned about Danes this week:

1. you don’t have to bend over to pet and or kiss them

2. they really don’t eat as much as everyone thinks

3. they play rough, but tire quickly

4. their head/tail can be lethal

5.  wearing flip-flops while walking them is a bad idea, actually wearing flip-flops around them period

6. they are not built for speed and have no spacial awareness

7. they are totally goofy

8. they have the coolest white fur spots on their paws

9.  they have a super deep mean scary bark

10. they are basically giant lap dogs and grown men and scared of them :O)

So for a week I got to hang with Naya & Neko.  Together they weight almost 300 lbs. and both slept with me all week.  I loved that I got to wake up to these giant faces every morning.   Neko is a European Great Dane so he has this huge square head and huge floppy ears and is not even two yet.  Naya is 2 and a half and is an American Dane, and even though she is still very large she is so gentle and proper.  Oh and she LOVES to watch TV, cutest thing I’ve ever seen.  She stands right in front of it, and her favorite channel is the Animal Network (go figure).  In summary, they only tried to kill me ONE time, and Neko only ate ONE pair of my shoes, and put his head through ONE window pane.  All in all I would say it was a successful week.

and watching Mommy & Daddy’s live wedding broadcast from St. Lucia :O)

I really did have too much fun with them :O) Happy weekend everyone!

Pile of Puppies | Akron Pet Photographer

I miss my dog . . . I miss him tons, it’s no secret.  But it does make me happy to get to hang out with his family.  You might remember seeing photos of lab puppies on the blog last year, a couple times.  Luckily I’m friends with the owner of Stimson Inn Kennel, and [...]

I miss my dog . . . I miss him tons, it’s no secret.  But it does make me happy to get to hang out with his family.  You might remember seeing photos of lab puppies on the blog last year, a couple times.  Luckily I’m friends with the owner of Stimson Inn Kennel, and get texts when lab puppies are born.  They are all in some way related to my Baci.  There is absolutely nothing sweeter than a little tiny puppy, especially a lab.  They smell like heaven, and when I look at these pictures I want to eat them.  Ok, that was weird . . . they are just too SWEET, I have a sweet tooth, haha.  These guys were just 4 weeks old when I got to smell and hold and take a few images of them last week.  While sitting on the ground holding the little black one, they all started to come up to me and all ended up in my lap.  Pretty stinkin’ cute!!! For a minute I was the “puppy whisperer” and eventually managed to lay them on top of each other and get them all zonked out for a photo opp.  They were in a pile, a pile of puppies.  Which is the greatest pile to be in.

The first image is the proud mama, Miss Pearl.  She is such a good mom but since the puppies got teeth, she’s a bit over it.  Those little teeth are sharp.

The black puppy, of course, reminds me of my sweet boy Baci.  He’s smiling at me in that third image . . . I can’t even take it, melts my heart.  They are ALL ADORBS.  Pet photography (dog photography) will always be my favorite hands down.  There is nothing better than a fur face looking at me behind my lens and then later all zoomed in on my monitor to edit, puts a smile on my face every time and takes all the stress of life away.  I know, I know, I need one but all in due time! xoxo
