And they are back . . . Friday’s Favs.  It’s been quite a bit of time since I’ve actually posted one of these.  Thought it was perfect to start back with one of my all time favorite pass times, knitting.  I’ve blogged about some of my favorite patterns before here, here, and here, this one [...]

And they are back . . . Friday’s Favs.  It’s been quite a bit of time since I’ve actually posted one of these.  Thought it was perfect to start back with one of my all time favorite pass times, knitting.  I’ve blogged about some of my favorite patterns before here, here, and here, this one might actually be my fav though.

It’s been a busy few months but right before Christmas, I took a little time off and visited my parents in Florida.  When I travel I always have to bring with me some knitting. Makes the time go by so fast and I love everything about the activity.  I even finished 2 other sweaters that I started way back in early 2012 and then started this one.   Might still be blogging about the other two, if I ever get photos of them.  But for now, it’s all about the Papillon!!!  It is all knit in one piece from the top down, which I love, so there is no sewing involved.  It was a pretty fast knit.  I’m not gonna lie, there was lots of ripping out and starting over involved until I got the lace pattern down.  Thankfully the yarn was perfect for this type of abuse.  Back a few months back I was at the thrift store, which I visit quite often, and came across this gorgeous Rowan yarn.  Well, the color was not gorgeous . . .  according to my knitting group I only knit blue.  They are in fact correct, I don’t know why but any shade of blue/turquoise yarn just makes me happy! The deal on this yarn was just too good, so I decided to make it work, and once I found this pattern I knew it would be perfect for the yarn.  Honestly it has kinda grown on me, the color that is.  Whatcha ya think?

Friday’s Favs – Birthdays

November 9th, 2012

Friday’s Favs are quickly becoming “Marlin Favs”!!! I love Birthday, although not so much my own anymore.  On Tuesday the 6th of November (yes there was a presidential election going on) but at the Janicki Residence we were also celebrating the King’s first birthday!  Although,  on his crown it said that he was “King for [...]

Friday’s Favs are quickly becoming “Marlin Favs”!!! I love Birthday, although not so much my own anymore.  On Tuesday the 6th of November (yes there was a presidential election going on) but at the Janicki Residence we were also celebrating the King’s first birthday!  Although,  on his crown it said that he was “King for A day”, we all know that he is the “King for EVERYDAY”.   Marlin’s friends brought him presents and he got a special Happy Birthday Treat!  We also went on two walk, first wearing the crown and second with just the tie.  Pretty sure people driving by were convinced I’ve lost my marbles, but I just waved at them and smiled.  Anywho, Birthday festivities do continue tomorrow with an actually party at the Stimson Inn Kennel for the puppies from the litter that Marlin came from.  Click here to view his siblings from a year ago.  We can NOT wait to reunite with all of his brothers and sisters and play.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Marlin got all kinds of sweet gifts but got totally obsessed with this little ducky, he carries it with him everywhere, it’s too cute!

Friday’s Favs – Halloween

October 26th, 2012

First, I’d like to apologize for not writing a friday’s favs post in sooooooo long!!!  I’ve been super busy during this wedding season and a few changes took place in my life but I promise to be a little better about this part of my blog.  For some reason, you guys like these! Second, I’d [...]

First, I’d like to apologize for not writing a friday’s favs post in sooooooo long!!!  I’ve been super busy during this wedding season and a few changes took place in my life but I promise to be a little better about this part of my blog.  For some reason, you guys like these!

Second, I’d like to officially introduce the second love of my life, Marlin.  He is a Chocolate Lab and he is STUNNING!  He came into my life at 8 months old, potty trained with huge paws, awesome caramel colored eyes, great personality and super chill. If we are friends on facebook you might actually disagree with the “super chill” part because of the photos I’ve been posting.  Poor guy loves me so much that when I’m not around he can’t deal with it and tears s*** up!  But when I am home he is the perfect angel boy, and with a face like that he can basically get away with anything (ie. eating the toilet brush and receptacle cover yesterday and all my remotes last week)! He sleeps under my desk, when I work, and sometimes even licks my toes!!! What more can a girl ask for, he is the perfect boyfriend!!!

Third, Halloween is by far my favorite holiday!  I didn’t learn about it till I came to this country at 12 and really was kinda too old for trick or treat!  So as an adult I’ve been trying to make up for lost time.  Not only do I like to dress up but I’m obsessed with dressing my dogs.  It might have something to do with being 38 and not having children but please don’t judge.  It simply is what it is!  So this being Marlin’s first Halloween with me, I decided to keep it simple and since he’s such a monkey (getting into stuff and all) and because he loves his fur brother Coopie (for those that don’t know, I also have a 15 year old kitty cat), we went for a monkey and banana theme.  Marlin being the monkey and Coopie the banana of course.  Again, please don’t judge, this is the most fun I can have for $20, trust me!

Happy Halloween Weekend Peeps!!!

Friday’s Favs – My Baci

July 6th, 2012

Today is a sad day!  One year ago today I heard my Baci take his last breath. It’s a sound that is permanently embedded in my brain.  It has to be the worst sound, at least in my lifetime, it has been the worst sound.  I will never forget that horrific day!  I’ve been thinking about [...]

Today is a sad day!  One year ago today I heard my Baci take his last breath. It’s a sound that is permanently embedded in my brain.  It has to be the worst sound, at least in my lifetime, it has been the worst sound.  I will never forget that horrific day!  I’ve been thinking about him tons lately and reliving that day, one year ago.  I’ve also been going through a bazillion photos (which I’ve been putting off), but I know I have to because and it does help in the grieving process.  Makes me remember all the great times.  While doing so I came upon this image, I love it, I love the head tilt.  I could always get him to do that, although I had to lie and say “do you wanna to the park?” and the head would tilt every time.  I still can’t believe that I’ve been coming home for an entire year and he has not been there to greet me at the door.

I love and miss you tons my love, I will NEVER forget you, you changed my world forever! xoxo

Friday’s Favs – Yellow Sak Bag

June 29th, 2012

I’m one of those girls WHO doesn’t much care what type of bag she carries as long as it matches. I’m a shoe girl! So typically for as long as I can remember I pretty much have always carried a simple black bag on an everyday basis (summer or winter). This past winter, I walked [...]

I’m one of those girls WHO doesn’t much care what type of bag she carries as long as it matches. I’m a shoe girl! So typically for as long as I can remember I pretty much have always carried a simple black bag on an everyday basis (summer or winter). This past winter, I walked into TJMaxx (as I often do after a client meeting, which I conveniently try to always schedule at the Panera located next to a TJMaxx), and right there up front was this gorgeous The SAK bag. I’m typically not an impulse shopper (who am I kidding, I totally I AM an impulse shopper, geez). The color was so amazing that I had to own it. Didn’t even consider what I was going to wear it with or that it would be an everyday bag, I loved it so much.  As soon as it got nice, I broke it out into the regular everyday wear, and to my shock it matched everything I wore, and I wasn’t even trying to match it. Also, it might not be that it matches everything, it just might be that it goes with everything. Look below for yourself, it’s kinda magical. I was going for 30 days of my bag but everyone kinda got tired of me asking them to take my picture so here are 16, you get the point.  On a little side note, at least one item of clothing in each of the images below came from THE thrift store. And probably all added together cost less than my bag, hilarious. Enjoy your weekend, peeps, and remember there are colors out there other than the simple classic black! xoxo
