Fridays Favs – Pinterest

January 20th, 2012

Do you like pretty things, are inspired by pictures, do you buy wine based on the label, do you enjoy a little Shoe Porn, or perhaps love to cook or decorate?  Pinterest.com is for you!!!  You’ve probably heard something about it before.  One of your girlfriends has mentioned it I’m sure, but you haven’t made the leap yet.  Well, today is the day!  Do it, join the Pinerest Community.  It’s the best social media website out there (YES better than Facebook), and you need to be a part of it.

If you are a bride, a mother, a teacher, a wife, a sister, a designer, a photographer, a WOMAN or a man you need to be on Pinterest.com!  It’s that simple!!!  It is basically a Virtual Pinboard.  Anything you find online you can pin to different boards that you create.  You can follow other people’s boards to see what they are pinning. You can search the pinterest site for already pinned images.  It’s be best eye candy out there, and the best part is that most pins take you right to the source, to that recipe of some delish desert, or the store where you can purchase that perfect pair of shoes, etc. etc.  Not to mention everything you LOVE is in one spot, genius!!! If you are a photographer than this is more than a must.  It’s one stop shop for any/all inspiration.  But I do have to warn you it is super addictive, you blink and hours have passed but you’ve seen so many gorgeous things and got so inspired so it’s not a total time killer.

Here’s something I discovered today, to see what images are pinned from your own site, or any site you might be interested in, type in “http://www.pinterest.com/source/(insert domain name here)”.  To see what images have been pinned from my site, I go to http://pinterest.com/source/janickiphotography.com.  Kinda fun to see who is pinning what!

If you would like to follow my boards you can find me here!  Start your pinning peeps!

Just a little pinterest eye candy I’ve been talking about!

Fridays Favs – Rocky Coast Cardigan

January 6th, 2012

So some of you might know that I like love to knit!!  I love the act of knitting it’s calming and relaxing, but also the end result.  And it might be more relaxing than yoga . . . well maybe not quite but pretty close. I learned to knit and crochet when I was just a little girl in Poland.  Trust me I’ve come a long way, maybe one day I’ll share the first sweater I ever knitted.  But for now lets get back to the current project.  I go through spurts where I’m knitting all the time and then life gets busy and I take a break.  It’s been quite a long break, I’d say almost an entire year.  A couple months ago I photographed one of my knitting friends, Andrea and she had just finished this amazing sweater.  I knew right away that it was going to be the project that was going to get me back into obsessive knitting in no time.  So I grabbed my needles and yarn and off I went.  Two 2 short weeks later, I was finished even after having to re-knit one of the sleeves.  It was quite a fast and easy knit and I love the result!

The “Rocky Coast Cardigan” comes from Coastal Knits which has many more amazing patterns and I’ve already cast on for sweater number two the “Bayside Pullover” from the same book.

Andrea: It looks awesome! And you can't even tell how cold it was outside :)
Meg Roke: Wow, Margaret! This is stunning on you. Love the color as well.

Wyatt | North Canton Newborn Photographer

January 4th, 2012

Sweet baby Wyatt was 8 days old for his session.  Which is absolutely the perfect time for a newborn session.  Born just days before Christmas he was just the perfect gift for the Pittman family.  I adore this family, it has been such a pleasure getting to know them this past couple years and I am so happy about the new addition to this great family.  And so looking forward to capturing his first year.  See you in 3 months sweet stuff!

All hats came from my shop at JaNicki Design and the caramel fabric is from Roses and Ruffles, just in case you are wondering! :O)

Since baby Wyatt was born just a few days before Christmas, the elf/santa hat had to make a comeback! He is such a sweet elf!

Beth + Brian | Sarasota Engagement Photographer

December 30th, 2011

The week of Christmas I headed down to Florida to spend the holiday with my folks.  Between shopping, making pierogis and hanging out at the beach (since it was 85 every single day) I managed to squeeze in an e-session for these gorgeous people.  Beth & Brian will be getting married next November, just like the license plate says, in Sarasota at the Ringling Museum.  To say that I’m excited about this event would be a huge understatement.  Seriously I want to do cart wheels, except I’m clumsy and would totally hurt myself.

Anywho, for the engagement session we first headed to downtown Sarasota for some fun shots on the streets.  Then off to the Ritz with Brian’s mom’s 1956 Ford Thunderbird that is in pristine condition and was her first car back.  So great that she let us use it for the shoot!  And lastly to the beach, “cause everything is better at the beach”  . . .  it so is, trust me!!!  Beth and Brian were really awesome and willing to do anything I asked, love them!!!

Now sit back and enjoy, this is a long one!

We even hit up the famous Sarasota “Unconditional Surrender” Kiss Statue for this cliche photo!  I HAD to!

if you like what you see make sure to “like” the facebook page, all the latest news and teasers get posted there first!

Cynthia: Wow! Margaret these are fantastic! Just as I was thinking, "That's my fav" another amazing picture popped up. Love the orange wall. The camera painting! The beach. The car. She dressed perfectly! Fantastic session!!
Giovanna: Hi Margaret, great job! , you were very blessed with fantastic light too, loving the card shots they are so hot :)
